Banana Black Bear

Most of the time when I make a picture I decide what I want to make a picture of and then figure out what plant material to use. Occasionally it works the opposite way. I find a piece of plant material that reminds me of something, and I build the rest of the picture around it. Such was the case with “Banana Black Bear.” I found a mushroom that reminded me of a bear’s nose and so I built a bear around it. Banana peels turn black when pressed, so I made the fur out of them. I like making pictures of bears because it gives me an excuse to search for cute bear pictures online for reference.

This picture is made of: banana peel, pampas grass, mushroom, aucuba, cotton, cinnamon, poppy seed, mulberry and maple.
