Playing in the Creek

I thought you would be happy to know that my 13-year-old brother Nathaniel’s first CD, Playing in the Creek, is being released today! Many of you have heard him playing his mountain dulcimer at the same events where you’ve seen me with my artwork.

Nathaniel’s CD is filled with original arrangements of classic hymns such as “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and vigorous fiddle tunes such as “Liza Jane” and “Fisher’s Hornpipe.” My favorite song on it is “Wayfaring Stranger.” Nathaniel played his own back-up on guitar on that song, creating what I think has a cowboyish feel.

Nathaniel finished 3rd in the 2011 National Mountain Dulcimer Championship and won the 2011 Southern Regional, Colorado and Georgia mountain dulcimer championships. (I’m a proud sister.)
